Autotex plant
is part of Milliken & Company and Viktor Achter groups. Viktor Achter
is the biggest automotive textile industry in Europe. It has plants in
Germany, England, Spain, Portugal. Milliken & Company is one
of the world's largest textile companies and a leader in research, technology,
quality and customer services. The Milliken company's history dates to
1865 in New England. In 1954, the headquarters moved from New York to the
current research and customer center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA.
Both companies joined forces under a join venture. There are 16000 associates
working from 60 manufacturing locations worldwide to create more than 48000
textile and chemical products.

I have been hired
to design, propose, install, keep improving the whole infrastructure for
the Information Technology environment into this Plant. The Autotex
Plant came to Brazil at August of 1995 and start to produce and delivery
goods at May of 1996. The Local Area Network Ethernet backbone installed
includes a mixed integrated platforms - AS/400 RISC, Novell Netware and
Windows NT servers - using structured cabling level 5 - switchers, hubs
and transceivers from RJ45 and Optical cables. For the AS/400 4247 printers
and IBM 3496 terminals using Twinaxial to fiber transceivers, multiplexers
from fiber to RJ45 and balloons from RJ45 to twinaxial cabling. .

The wide area
network was installed over the IBM Global Network world wide backbone using
SNA protocol for the AS/400 wide area network, and TCP/IP for Notes wide
area network and Intranet environment.

Installation of
EDI with our financial institutions for payables and receivables under
dial connections directly to the gateway computer, and with our customers
throughout Renpac 2025/STM 400 platform.

For the stock
take and warehouse controls I have installed Bar Code laser gun devices
using Radio Frequency technology and also real time update and upload to
the AS/400 server using multi-purpose converters..

My technical boss
was located at Viersen, Germany, at the headquarter of Viktor Achter group.
I keep in touch daily with him and his team. This group has several plants
spread in Germany, England, Spain, Portugal, Venezuela and Brazil. I go
often to these countries to participate in a technical meetings and work-groups.

I was in charge
with PABX communications and Video Conference installation facilities.
For the Video Conference I am running over Datafone Service with X21 resource
at 64 Kbps speed.

For the ERP application
I was customizing the internal integrated system. That application was
designed to our textile automotive environment to have real time control
over the shop floor processes. This package was written by the Germany
Development team of our Viktor Achter group.
